Defending The Faith In Steubenville

Defending The Faith In Steubenville

To the secular mind, Steubenville,
Ohio is just another
working-class town located in the heart of the Rustbelt. But to Catholics starving
for real spiritual bread, this city situated right on the corners of the border
separating Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, has come to be seen as an
oasis of orthodoxy thanks to the presence of Franciscan University. And at no
time is this more evident then when the school hosts their annual Defending the
Faith Conference each summer.

The Defending the Faith Conference has long attracted the
brightest minds of the Catholic Church in America. Past speakers have
included luminaries such as Fr. Benedict Groeschel, Father Mitch Pacwa
and America’s newest cardinal, Sean O’Malley of Boston. This year’s
slate
features names like Carl Olson, Steve Ray, and Patrick Madrid. And no
trip to
this conference is ever complete without an appearance by Scott and
Kimberly
Hahn.

In addition to this outstanding speaker lineup, attendees
will find special workshops focusing on relevant current issues such as
Intelligent Design, the Theology of the Body, The DaVinci Code and many other aspects of culture and the Church.

The Second Vatican Council and the postconciliar popes
called on the Church to engage the modern world and to win it for Christ. Few
schools have responded to that call with the vibrant enthusiasm s shown by Franciscan University. Isn’t this July 28-30 the
time for you to be a part of it all too? Go to the link on the Catholic Match events page to find a complete
schedule and the necessary links for on-campus housing and registration. Three
full days of faith, education and renewal await all who come to Steubenville.
