Nothing To Lose

Nothing To Lose

In October 2007, I (Caroline) moved to Orlando, Florida to go to college. Over Thanksgiving, I went to Gainesville to visit my family. Over dinner, my grandpa said that he was going to the wedding of a friend who met his fiancé on Catholic Match. It turns out that they went to the same church for years, and didn't even know it. He told me to get a profile on the website, but I said no. I hadn’t dated a lot since high school and the thought of going online wasn’t that appealing to me. I kept thinking of the show “To Catch a Predator” so the idea scared me a little. But of course the second I got home, the first thing I did was get a profile on Catholic Match. I had nothing to lose, so I thought, why not?

After being on the site for a few months and dating a few people, I was about to give it all up. But then I contacted William Weller and after a few weeks of talking online, he asked, "Which church do you go to?" I said, "St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Winter Park." He said that he went there as well. On January 20, 2008 we met after the 6pm Mass. I remember the first time I saw him like it was yesterday. It hit me like a ton of bricks; I didn’t think I had a chance because he’s so gorgeous.

We went to dinner at Chili's afterward. The dinner conversation was electric. I had never connected with someone like that before. From then, we’ve been together ever since. We wanted to take things slow, but everything fell right into place. We had the same outlook on life and for some reason we just clicked. After our third date, I knew he was the one. Looking back, it seems crazy, but the cliché is true, when you know, you know! It was as if God put Will in front of me and said, “This is the man you will love and this is the man you were born to be with.”

A story that sticks out in my mind was when we walked a half-mile to dinner from Will’s house. When we were walking back, it started pouring rain! Will told me to stand under the building nearby while he ran all the way home, and drove his truck to come get me! I thought that was a romantic gesture, although I wouldn’t have minded running with him in the rain! In July 2008, he met my family in Montana, and in November 2008 I met his family in Colorado. It was nice because everyone got along perfectly! My family loved Will and knew we were perfect for each other.

Our personalities mesh well because he brings me out, while I calm him down. On June 7, 2009, after sixteen months of dating, Will proposed on my birthday. We went to a gorgeous park for lunch and he put the cooler in front of me. I was getting out the food, and noticed a small black box. I picked it up and opened it. I looked at Will, he took the ring and he said, "Will you marry me?" Of course I said, "YES!!!!" It was the happiest day of my life. I am still in awe by finding the love of my life. And even more shocked that I found him on Catholic Match. We're planning our wedding on December 31, 2009 and we couldn’t be happier and excited!!
