Leave it to Lady Gaga to up the ante.
On the heels of New York’s fashion week, where animal prints and military style ruled the runway, Lady Gaga took it to the next level at last night’s VMAs, donning a dress made of raw meat. In it, she accepted the award for “Video Of The Year” and sang a few lines of her forthcoming album’s title track:
“How beautiful in my way, cause God makes no mistakes. I’m on the right track. Baby, I was born this way.”
Exactly what track Lady Gaga is on may be unclear, but it is a dramatic departure from her Catholic roots, which she has publicly separated herself from, telling Larry King earlier this year, “I suppose you could say I’m a quite religious woman that is very confused about religion.”
The pop queen has spoken out about being single and celibate. She told the U.K.’s Mirror that she has taken a vow of celibacy. “I’m single,” she said. “Even Lady Gaga can be celibate. You don’t have to have sex to be loved.”
What do you think, Catholic singles? How does a young Catholic stray so far off track? Where do the missteps begin? What are you doing to stay on the right track?
And when it comes to fashion – I have to ask – from where do you draw your cues?
