Magazine Seeks Hottest Singles In Chicago

Chicago magazine seeks most eligible singles

Chicago magazine is searching for the Windy Cindy’s most eligible singles to spotlight in its July issue. The criteria behind their quest are not exactly the ones emphasized on CatholicMatch. Here’s how the magazine puts it:

Applicants must be unattached; at least 21; current residents of Chicago or the surrounding suburbs; and can be gay, straight, you name it. Above all, we’re looking for folks who are accomplished, photogenic, and intriguing — Chicagoans who turn heads.

Is that what makes someone eligible: “accomplished, photogenic and intriguing?” CatholicMatchers, if you had to name three words to define desirability, what would they be?

As an example of their definition, Chicago magazine shared a link to last year’s 20 winners. Their ages range from 28 to 48 and the eligible singles include a Cubs pitcher and a professional soccer player. An email address is offered for each one.

We know CatholicMatch has a strong Chicago presence. Maybe it’s time to get a Catholic in the mix to up the classiness factor? You can nominate yourself or a friend. Deadline is March 11.

My three words to define desirability: spiritually faithful Catholic. Pretty much sums it up for me.

It seems like this whole thing comes down to a popularity contest. Evidently being “eligible” these days means you’re extremely fit, attractive, have an incredibly successful career, and that you live a “perfect” life. Nice for some but what about those “average Joe’s?” Not all of us are doctors, lawyers, professors, professional athletes, chefs, or the CEO of a company, etc. I do give credit to the one guy who is a first grade teacher…

Anyway, I don’t ever see a 25 year old accountant like myself ever cracking that list…not that I’d want to. One day, a very eligible young woman is going to stumble on this young eligible bachelor and sparks will fly. That’s all I want. :)

We should not expect non Catholics to have the same values we have.I am not at all surprised by their criteria for what constitutes a desirable single.

Hey, accomplished isn’t a bad thing. The rest aren’t that bad either, but certainly not the most important. My three (and I think being Catholic goes without saying):

    1. Intelligent
    2. Challenging
    3. Elegant (or ladylike)

Unfortunately many of the people on this site are just as shallow as the people in this magazine.
