Bristol Palin: Waiting For Marriage To Have Sex Again

Bristol Palin writes about losing her virginity in her new book

Bristol Palin, the 20-year-old daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, has written a memoir called “Not Afraid Of Life: My Journey So Far” that’s being hailed as a pro-life manifesto and scrutinized by the media.

In the newly-released book, Bristol writes about losing her virginity to Levi Johnston, who fathered her child, proposed to her and then cheated on her, she says. (The Daily Beast recently published the book’s “juiciest excerpts.”) Bristol also asserts her desire to wait for marriage to have sex again.

Bristol is coming to The Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn., tonight to sign books, and she’ll be joined by her high-profile book-selling mom. Sarah will only autograph copies of her own two books for those who have purchased Bristol’s book, MinnPost.com reports.

It’s not easy defending abstinence when there is such a public sign of a time you fell short of that pledge – in Bristol’s case, her 2-year-old son Tripp. CatholicMatch is home to many single parents who, like Bristol, have recommitted to chastity, including a devoted Michigan mom we featured on our blog earlier this month.

Bristol’s new book also raises the question of how a single parent should talk about an ex to a child. It’s hard not to wonder what Tripp will think when he’s older and reads this book, in which his mom describes his dad as “the gnat named Levi Johnston constantly spreading false accusations against our family,” describing him as a self-involved slacker “who cheated on me about as frequently as he sharpened his hockey skates.”

Single parents, how do you approach this? How do you let charity rule when you’ve been deeply wronged by an ex?
