CatholicMatch Launches Pet Contest

Make your pet Catholic in honor of St. Francis of Assisi

We were pleased to learn that 60 percent of CatholicMatch members own a pet, and because of this finding, we’re planning a special photo gallery in honor of St. Francis of Assisi’s upcoming feast day. But we need your help!

Send us a picture of your Catholic pet – and deck him or her out to look Catholic. Be creative! Consider creating a nun’s habit, a brother’s robe or a Roman collar for your furry friend. Surround your parakeet with holy cards or medals. Adorn your canine like a beloved saint or dress your feline like a pontiff. (Pope Benedict is well known for his love of cats, after all.) Render your rabbit angelic with a halo and wings. Whatever you do, the picture must have some Catholic element or angle.

Take a clear picture with good lighting. Email your picture to media@catholicmatch.com, using the subject line “My Catholic pet,” by Sept. 15. Be sure to note your member number in the text of the email.

For an added incentive, we’ll be giving special prizes to the three most viewed pets in our online gallery. It’s time to make your furry friend famous!

This is not intended to be sacrilegious, but rather, to celebrate the special bond we share with our pets in a fun, lighthearted way. Surely your pets are Catholic too, right?

We can’t wait to see your photos!

There’s still time to enter this contest! A really creative shot with a clear Catholic component could easily win the top prize. Email it to media@catholicmatch.com — don’t forget to note your profile number.

  2. This is just wonderful. Thanks so much…Perhaps the winners could be models for a calendar ? (all proceeds go to catholicmatch..)
