2nd Day Of Christmas: Dominick’s Music Makes It Merry

Dominic is a 20-something single Catholic from New Haven

We’re pleased to feature Dominick on the second day of Christmas.

What have been the greatest blessings of 2011?

Each day with a sincere heart I give thanks to Our Lord for the many and gracious gifts He has bestowed upon me, my family, and all of those dear to me. Although the passage of this year has yielded both its truly good and sincerely difficult days, the grace and guidance of God have seen me carefully through each day along the journey. Indeed, even the hardest times have been far surpassed by the many ways in which He has shown the Light of His Love.

I do count amongst my greatest blessings being a part of our CatholicMatch community, through which God has certainly made His love and goodness known from within the hearts of many who have become so dear to me. And for their presence in my life I shall be eternally grateful!

How has your approach to finding a mate evolved?

I have found that each new experience along the path of life, whether it should prove to be a positive or a difficult one, always happens for a unique purpose, ordained by God Himself. Over the years, I have certainly had my share of both wonderful and trying times, from within the realm of sharing relationships.

I’ve known so deeply that each woman with whom I am blessed to share a relationship comes forth into my life for a reason, and I can always find something very special, that we carry with me from the heart of each one who has touched my life in a deep and profound way.

In my search for a true and loving partner, it is only from within the depths of the heart and soul, where the true person is found and on which level that we can share that beautiful harmony with another. Therefore, I strive to go forth in this life with an open mind, a willing heart, and eager to follow along the paths where Our Lord directs.

Inevitably, we all do have those painful experiences along the way to finding that special someone. However, as I have discovered, even these moments in life can be a blessing in disguise. For with the proper reflection, prayer, and learning to deeply listen to the voice of God in our hearts, we do grow in faith, in the depths of inner strength, and most of all we gain a deeper wisdom of heart, learning more profoundly of what matters in that precious, shared unity with someone.

What’s your CatholicMatch strategy?

Whilst I am not presently in the process of actively searching for a partner, I always strive to keep my heart open to the possibilities. I do find much meaning in being an active member of our dear community in many ways – and not simply over the Internet!

Why do you stay on CatholicMatch?

I always count each day I spend with those in our community – whether through the CatholicMatch forum topics, the chat rooms, or time spent in personal conversation with those here who have become close friends – to be a great and meaningful gift.

Through my years on CatholicMatch, I have developed a deep connection with several dear people who have become my closest friends. This past year I have been honoured to attend a couple of wonderful gatherings as well, and it was such a privilege to meet and enjoy a beautiful time with a few truly admirable people! I cannot describe the depth of what CatholicMatch has always meant to me. For it is truly in immersing ourselves within the sharing of spiritual unity, with our brothers and sisters here, that we are not only very blessed ourselves, but also have such great potential to reach and inspire the hearts of so many!

What’s your favorite Christmas tradition?

I have been deeply blessed to have been raised within a traditional Italian family where meaningful tradition and family values have been held so dearly within our hearts for many years. I was taught music at a very young age by a now departed relative, and as a music director and parish organist since the age of 14, serving as a prominent part of the Church during these festive times of year has been so much a part of me.

It can certainly be quite busy during Christmas! Yet I consider it the blessing of my vocation to make wonderful use of my ministry, to touch the hearts of the faithful, to enhance the celebration of the Mass, and also to enrich this most festive season and celebration of the coming of Christ!

We also have a couple of lovely Christmas traditions within my family. A most enjoyable one is our yearly baking of a variety of wonderful Italian cookies, pies, and goodies to share with relatives and friends. And of course we always host the large, traditional family dinner on Christmas Day. It is a time of year so greatly anticipated here and always a lovely time!

What’s your hope for 2012?

I wish to extend to everyone here on CatholicMatch my prayers and fondest wishes for a blessed, beautiful Christmas season and New Year! May the Light of Our Lord continue to dwell within your hearts and bless each one of you, your friends, and your dear families!

Make a prediction for 2012.

Overall, the year of 2011 has been, as Sinatra himself would say, “A very good year!” Each and every day, whether under fair skies or cloudy weather, has come with its own unique blessings and always filled with the presence of God!

Whilst I cannot make any certain predictions for the coming year, I simply strive each day to go forth with His Spirit inside my heart and to take each day that He grants unto me as a gift.

    Dominick,
Since Sept I have seen and listened to many of your postings. As a fellow choir member this time of year is so special to us and this is when we have a chance to minister back to even more people that are not at our Church every weekend. We pray that our music touches their souls as much as music lives in our soul. Have a blessed and wonderful New Year. Nancy
