Why Do Good Things Happen to Bad People?

In the book, Making Sense Out of Suffering, Dr. Peter Kreeft makes a very poignant statement… He states that the common question posed when suffering is experienced is “Why do bad things happen to good people?” But if you look at that from the opposite angle, he says, you need to ask “Why do good things happen to bad people?” This statement puts all our pain and suffering into a completely different context, one that makes more sense in trying to tackle the question of why God allows suffering.
We are all sinners, each and every one of us. We may be good people, practicing Catholics, tax-payers, vigilant voters, etc., but we are not perfect people. We offend God daily with our sins and yet, He continues to bless us. He continues to shower us with His graces. If you sat down to write a list of your blessings, you might never finish because the list would be nearly inexhaustible. Every second of your life, every breath you take is a gift to you from God. Take time today to share your suffering with Christ in prayer and then, find consolation, comfort, and perspective in reflecting on the great blessings He has bestowed upon you.
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. – Romans 5:8

I really enjoyed this article. Somehow it reminds me of losing my beautiful wife. We were so happy, yet he chose to take her. God Bless
