Confession: A Spiritual Toolbox

One of the greatest struggles of divorce is learning how to deal with all the powerful emotions you feel. Anger, resentment, loneliness, sadness, the pain of the incredible loss… all feelings that can overwhelm you like a tidal wave. The trick is managing your emotions so they don’t manage you and this takes a lot of personal strength. But what do you do when you are lacking this strength?

Avail yourself of the sacrament of confession. This sacrament is like having a spiritual toolbox in which you have so much more to help than just going inside a small room and listing your sins. Confession gives you the opportunity to discuss your circumstances and feelings with someone who will give you good advice, who cares about your soul and wants to see you happy. And because it is a sacrament, you receive the graces and the strength you need to manage these emotions and have a better life.

The best thing is the sacrament of confession is at your disposal. You can go any time if you call and make an appointment, it’s not just limited to Saturdays. If you are lacking the strength you need, consider going to confession.

Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications! (Psalm 130:2)
