Jesus Is Calling You

Bartimaeus was a blind beggar. Few people paid attention to him. He sat outside the city walls, making noise. He wanted attention. He wanted to be healed.

Most people passed him by without a thought. Even the apostles, when passing by with Jesus, wanted him to be quiet, to go away. But Bartimaeus could not be silenced because he knew who Jesus was. His faith was solid and he knew Jesus could heal his affliction. But it was more than that. Bartimaeus knew Jesus was the Son of God, the Messiah. When he was finally allowed to, Bartimaeus “threw aside his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus.”

Don’t let your suffering take you away from Jesus. The world will tell you to be quiet, to look in a different direction. But keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. He wants to heal you. He wants to know what He can do for you.

Jesus said to him in reply, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man replied to him, “Master, I want to see.” Jesus told him, “Go your way; your faith has saved you.”
Immediately he received his sight and followed him on the way (Mark 10: 51-52).
