The Gift Of Faith

As the holidays draw near, it is tempting to withdraw from parties, gatherings and celebrations because of the sharp reminder of being alone after divorce. This is a natural reaction to suffering, neither good nor bad. But what can be tempting to do from that point is to doubt God and His presence in your life.

In the book, The Gift of Faith, Father Tadeusz Dajczer writes, “If we are surprised that God foils our plans and leads us down a different road from the one we imagined, let us recall that it was the same in the life of the Blessed Mother.

Mary did not fully understand all that would happen when she gave her “yes” to the Angel Gabriel, yet, as time unfolded and suffering inevitable, she never waivered in her consent to do God’s will.

What an excellent way to put these events of your life into perspective. You gave your “yes” at the altar when you married even though you could not predict a divorce would happen. Now that you are suffering, look to Mary for help and guidance, asking her to strengthen you and keep you close to Jesus, just as she remained her entire life. God will bless you abundantly for remaining faithful.

Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be done with me according to your word (Luke 1:38).
