In sacred scripture, we read about the parable of the talents, a story that talks about the gifts God gives us and His expectations for us to use them wisely and not waste them. This parable enables you to look at your own life and take note of the gifts you’ve been given and if you are using them wisely.
But, did you know that the suffering and pain is a talent? Yes, most certainly, and one that is a gift given to you by God that He wants you to use for your salvation and the salvation of others.
How in the world does this make sense? you may be thinking. Who in the world can believe that the terrible scourge of divorce is a gift, a talent?
Just think of your situation as an opportunity, instead of getting discouraged. Try to understand the deeper meaning of what has happened to you and how, with hard work, you can refine yourself by virtue of your struggle and excel as a human being through perseverance and ultimately triumph.
Through it all, God gives you all the graces you need to succeed and come out on top.
For they disciplined us for a little while as seemed good to them, but he does so for our benefit, that we may share his holiness (Hebrews 12:10).
