How Would You Describe Divorce?

People who experience divorce have many descriptions for what it’s like when they’re trying to explain it to someone else. I’ve heard people describe it as something like being trapped in a dark room. You can’t find the door and you’re walking around with your arms outstretched, trying to find the light switch. I’ve also heard people describe the experience as waking up in a foreign country… nothing and no one is recognizable. Personally, it always felt to me as if I was wandering through a great desert, with little hope of finding an oasis. After my experience, I can tell you there is an oasis that waits for you…

The sacraments of your faith are that oasis. They are free of charge and they are waiting for you to come and partake, to come and be refreshed. The grace of the sacraments are like an armor that helps protect your heart and soul from the corrosive winds of divorce.

Take advantage of every opportunity you can to receive the Holy Eucharist and the sacrament of Reconciliation so you have what you need to get you through this difficult time.

You called in trouble and I rescued you; I answered you in the hiding place of thunder; I proved you at the waters of Meribah. – Psalm 81:7

Divorce is betrayal. The feeling is like you feel when your best friend betrays you.
