Today is the beginning of the holiest week of the year.
It is the beginning of the most difficult time in Christ’s life and while most people at the time, including His disciples, believed it ended in disgrace, it was the greatest triumph in all of history. Christ revealed Himself on Easter Sunday in all His glory, to show us death had no power over Him and to give you hope that death and sin will not prevail in your life if you remain in Him.
Lord Jesus, the cross you willingly accepted was weighted down by my sins, for you are blameless and can only love. My cross is heavy, too, Lord. Weighted by my sins, but burdened by the transgressions of the person who hurt me most. It feels it is impossible to carry. When I am overwhelmed by my divorce, Lord, prompt me to unite my sufferings to yours. Help me to remember the burden you bore for my sake. Be the source of my strength, that in you, I will have strength for everything.
As he rode along, the people were spreading their cloaks on the road; and now as he was approaching the slope of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of his disciples began to praise God aloud with joy for all the mighty deeds they had seen.
