Palm Sunday Reflection

We welcome Him as King, and in less than a week, we will crucify Him like a criminal.

Dear Lord, as I contemplate this scene from your passion today, I think of all the times I personally have welcomed you into my heart and then closed it off to you. My heart has been broken and I mistakenly believe that building a wall will protect me from further hurt. When will I finally learn that my heart was made for you, to love you and share that love with others?

Today, grant me the grace to recognize You as my King and to worship You always. To know that my healing lies with You. To know that in Your Divine providence, You will take care of those whom I cannot. And to always remember You will work the bad things that have happened to me for my good.

Grant me the grace to embrace my cross with love, as You do, and walk with You to Calvary where my sincere prayer will always be heard, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”

As he rode along, the people were spreading their cloaks on the road; and now as he was approaching the slope of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of his disciples began to praise God aloud with joy for all the mighty deeds they had seen. They proclaimed: “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord (Luke 19: 36 – 38).
