Wednesday Of Holy Week Reflection

Today, as I contemplate your passion, Lord, I see the cruelty with which the soldiers treated you. You, the King of King and Lord of Lords, Creator of the universe, were laughed at, beaten, mocked, and stripped of everything. In my own way, Lord, I commiserate with you, for through my divorce, I have lost so much. I too, feel stripped of the things that I needed to live.

Lord Jesus, seeing you so cruelly humiliated grieves my heart. I offer up to you the many humiliations I have suffered as a result of my divorce. Please help me to let go of the hurts, the humiliations and embarrasments and focus totally on you, for you are my salvation. Clothe me with the virtues of your Blessed Mother: faithfulness, obedience, prudence, patience, mercy and purity.

The Lord GOD opened my ear; I did not refuse, did not turn away. I gave my back to those who beat me, my cheeks to those who tore out my beard; My face I did not hide from insults and spitting. The Lord GOD is my help, therefore I am not disgraced; Therefore I have set my face like flint, knowing that I shall not be put to shame (Isaiah 50: 5 – 7).
