Managing Anger

Anger is deceiving. It’s an emotion that can make you believe it’s worth hanging on to.
It’s powerful, it’s demanding, and it overwhelms you with only a moment’s notice. While it is a God-given emotion, one that Christ, himself, certainly felt as a human being, it is an emotion to be mastered. Many people become slaves to their anger and live lives full of bitterness and anxiety because they do not master their anger. But becoming a slave to your emotions makes you a victim and then it becomes difficult to live a happy and fulfilled life. Feeling angry is not bad or wrong… but it’s how you act upon that anger that could cause you more suffering, stress, and grief. 
Journaling is an excellent way to begin managing your feelings of anger. Writing out, word for word, how you feel and why you feel that way becomes not only a cathartic exercise, but a prayer, if you choose to make it that. Your anger will dissipate and eventually disappear if you release your grip on it, let it flow through and let go of it.
Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift. Matthew 5:23
